Some netizens then commented that it was impossible to play the game unless it has been downloaded illegally. Pokemon Gold is available only for Nintendo systems and not for computers or mobile phones, unless it is downloaded illegally.

Due to heavy criticism obtained, Chanyeol deleted his post on Instagram and issued an apology on July 19.

Chanyeol wrote: "Hi, this is Chanyeol!! The reason I'm uploading a post like this is I wanted to apologize to everyone!! First and foremost, I'm a person who really like games, and as a public figure, I think uploading a video of an illegally downloaded game was very irresponsible, and to those users who use the original product and to others who felt offended, I apologize!! I will continue to be careful in many areas, and try to be Chanyeol who respects the original product!!"
