‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7, News Update: Upcoming Season Will March into Uncharted Territory, Says Producer Greg Nicotero
AMC's super popular zombie series 'The Walking Dead' will return in fall and with it will come to fore the identity of Negan's victim, the most-talked-about mystery that stays unsolved, after the cliffhanger finale. But there is much more that is in store for fans.
According to executive producer Greg Nicotero, the upcoming season will change everything fans thought they knew about the series and the comic book. Speaking at the promotion of 'The Walking Dead' ride at Universal Studios, he stated that there is much more to Season 7 than just Negan's victim. Though he admitted that fans will get what they have been expecting, he revealed that something else is also waiting for them.
Referring to the comic book as only a source material, he said that the show will take different turns moving forward and the next season will be quite distinct from what everyone is accustomed to. He also expressed hope that people will enjoy the changes and like the fact that something different is being delivered. He said that it is the logical place for the show to go and they close one chapter to open a new one.
Nicotero emphasized that they would not be doing the comic book justice if they regurgitated it word for word. He accepted that the book has iconic moments and things that they will pay tribute to. But even if they don't do things exactly the way the book has done, they will find out a way for the book fans to give them their money's worth.
Well, his words certainly make for good news and it looks like Season 7 will further the raise the bar of excellence. But his comments have also given away an important spoiler. If the show is not going to follow the comic book then it is most likely that Glenn is not the victim, which is somewhat queer as he dies in the book and fans were also expecting him to die. But looks like some other character is going to bite the dust.
