Apple might be releasing the highly anticipated 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display very soon as reports are suggesting that the portable is entering a mass production in the first quarter of 2015.

According to a new report released today, the Apple's new 12-inch MacBook Air along with Apple Watch is entering mass production in the first quarter of 2015. The report added that the new 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display will feature Intel's Broadwell processors. The design of the chassis has been revised and now its slimmer than ever.

However, the report added that the mass production has been hampered by 'low yield rates.'

Apple may also save some space by getting rid of the physical clicking mechanism in the MacBook Air's trackpad.

Earlier, rumors had suggested that the 12-inch MacBook Air with retina display will debut in iPhone inspired - silver, gold and space gray - color options.

The design of the next version of MacBook Air is believed to be heavily dependent on Intel's next-generation 14-nanometer chips.

The current MacBook Air lineup was given a minor speed bump, accompanied with a price cut. Presently, MacBook Airs come in two screen sizes - 11.6 and 13.3 inches.

Another report by TechRadar suggested that the Retina MacBook Air was to be released this Octobers, however delayed availability of Broadwell-series processors made that impossible.
