LeEco Release Date: LeEco set to hit the US markets later this year
LeEco is a force to reckon with in the Indian and Chinese markets thanks to its feature rich budget and mid-ranged offerings. What makes it different from other companies is the fact that it offers content to the customers in addition to hardware. It seems like the company's ambitions don't end with India as LeEco has just announced its intentions to set up base in the U.S. markets, starting later this year (Q4 2016).
With devices like the Le Max 2 recently seeing the light of the day in India, the company can expect to make major inroads in the American markets, although the competition will be pretty stiff with OEMs like Apple, LG, Samsung, HTC etc being some of the most popular manufacturers in the region. Not to mention fellow Chinese players like Huawei, ZTE etc who have been selling devices in the U.S. for a couple of years now.
It is said that LeEco is looking to hire new employees in preparation for its big U.S. release later this year. The company currently has about 400 employees in the country, with another 600 in the process of being included in time for the release. Lawsuits and other trademark related concerns have kept most Chinese OEMs from setting up shop in the U.S. But this shouldn't be an issue for a company like LeEco. LeEco has already seen its success in the Indian and SEA markets and analysts have almost no doubt about that. Indian market individually itself saw a million sales of their first generation LeMax phone which also induced a new color introduction from the manufacturer as a 'thank-you' gesture.
However, the introduction of Chinese smartphone brands in the USA might really be a concern for the Chinese since Apple is a major dominant smartphone maker in the entire USA with most of its user base operating their phones either on contracts or freebies or even maybe as an individual buyer. However, the pricing of LeEco phones have been almost 1/4th that of the pricing of Apple phones. However, this individually itself might not see LeEco's growth considering the quality of Apple products. We've just got to wait and watch.
