‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6, News Update: HBO Compensates for the Short Episode 7 with Longer Upcoming Episodes
'Game of Thrones' fans were a little disappointed with Episode 7 of Season 6 as it had a lesser running time (51 minutes to be precise) than the average episodes of the show. But you do not need to sulk over it for HBO has sufficient compensation in place to nullify the curtailment.
According to reports, the upcoming episodes of the current season are longer and the finale is slated to be the longest, fans have ever witnessed, on the fantasy-drama series. It will run for altogether 69 minutes while Episode 9 will run for a full 60 minutes.
The latter, titled 'The Battle of the Bastards,' will also feature the biggest battle, the showrunners have been teasing about, for long. As the title indicates and fans have been assuming, it will take place between the bastards Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton, who will finally come face to face to claim Winterfell.
Both the penultimate episode and the finale titled 'The Winds of Winter' have been directed by Miguel Sapochnik. He is the same director who was behind Episode 8 of Season 5. If you recall, it was the episode that featured the mind-blowing battle of Hardhome. So, every fan can rest assured that the remaining part of season 6 will provide them with enough of spectacle and glory.
Meanwhile, it is also being said that HBO is treating fans with longer upcoming episodes not just because of the shorter episode that was aired last week. It is also a way of the showrunners to make up for the shorter Seasons 7 and 8.
As fans know, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have already said that the next two seasons will be abbreviated ones with the duo altogether sharing 13 episodes. So, get ready for some more action and drama. There is still a lot left in the current season.
The next episode i.e. the eighth of Season 6, titled 'No One' airs on June 12, on HBO at 9 p.m.
