'The Young and the Restless' News Update: Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps Asked to Leave
Rumors were in the air that the showrunner of a soap would be shown the exit gate, and the same materialized when the executive producer of 'The Young and the Restless' Jill Farren Phelps was fired from the show.
Prior to the revelation, fans harbored a lot of grudges as to how she was handling the show. Therefore, the news of her removal from the show was accepted with excitement by the fans.
The news however has not been released by the official sources of the show and it might be long before any official intimation is released.
Phelps is not a newbie in the soap arena. She has previously worked in a plethora of soaps including General Hospital, One Life To Live, Santa Barbara, and Guiding Light, to name a few. She has also worked as an executive producer to the show 'Hollywood Heights'.
However, this time though she has no deals or contracts for future projects signed as she exits from 'The Young and the Restless.' Reports suggest that the initial plan was to boot Phelps and leave the decision of departure on her - but things turned around differently.
There are reasons as to why fans were not by the side of Phelps. Fans feel that Phelps' online revelations heated up forums, and they hold her responsible for losing both Billy and Michelle from the show. Apart from that, she has also manhandled certain storyline of the soap which has left viewers frustrated. She has also been accused of favoritism.
Now, with the exit of Phelps, there is a need of some clean-up required to negate the abrupt changes made by the erstwhile producer. Mal Young, expected to take over Phelps' role, may have to make certain cast shifts to bring the show back on track.
