Frito-Lays Recalls Select Prezels
Frito-Lays has announced a voluntary recall of Rold Gold Tiny Twists, Rold Gold Sticks, Rold Gold Thins and Rold Gold Honey Wheat Braided due to an alleged "potential undeclared peanut allergen."
The announcement has been posted on the official website of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States.
The FDA notice states that the recall is the direct results of a recall announced by a Frito-Lay supplier concerning certain batched of flour suspected to contain undeclared peanut residue. The Rold Gold products that are affected by the recall are believed to have been made using the recalled flour.
As a result, these Rold Gold products may contain low levels of the undeclared peanut residue. The four varieties of the Rold Gold packages are sold in the United States in retail stores and through vending customers and food service throughout the country.
The food products recalled have a "guaranteed fresh" dates ranging between June 28, 2016 and August 23, 2016. The dates are printed on the front of the package. Just below the guaranteed fresh dates, a 9-digit manufacturing code is printed. The code has the number "32" at the second and third positions, for example, x32xxxxxx.
The products that do not have the numbers "32" in the second and the third position of the manufacturing code are not impacted by the recall. In addition to the complete package, certain Rold Gold Tiny Twists that are included in select multipack offerings are also impacted by the recall.
The impacted multipacks have "use by" dates on the front of the package, underneath which a 11-digit manufacturing code is printed. The manufacturing code has a combination code TO, AM, QC, QH or SW in the second and third position.
So far, the company has received no complaints or reports related to illness caused by the sold products. The recall impacts no other Rold Gold products or flavor.
