Video: Third-Grader Banned From Wearing Trump Cap

The Donald Trump fight raged in a California elementary school when a third grader wore his hero's cap but was asked by his Principal to remove it. The little boy sounded as if he was standing up for his First Amendment rights after he was told to remove the cap.

Logan Autry, 9, said officials at Powers-Ginsburg Elementary School in Fresno said that he should remove his "Make America Great Again" hat so that he could avoid stirring "negative emotions" in his classmates.

That red baseball cap with the phrase "Make America Great Again" printed in white capital letters seems to signal presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's public fame. Logan wore the cap several days in a row during recess, which attracted quite a lot of attention.

"The principal told me to take it off, and I still didn't take it off," Logan said. "And she said it was against the dress code to wear the hat, but I looked at the dress code and it was not against it."

It was his stepmother, Angela Hoffknecht, who said that the order to remove the cap came only after an older student made a remark.

The Fresno Unified School District had to come out with a statement that it wanted to provide "a safe learning environment."

"It is also our responsibility to take precautions when the discourse begins to impact our school climate and interrupt school operations," it announced.

But as the story became popular, the little boy did get to meet Donald Trump, shake his hand and get the GOP nominee to put his signature on it, said Hoffknecht.

"I still want to keep my hat. It's not the hat that draws attention, it's just my personality that the other children do not like," Logan said, tearully.

Logan said he loves politics, American history, and the Repulican nominee, who inspires the little boy to wear a shirt and tie to school and practise speeches in the playground.

There was another interesting story about the hat, though. The Autry's family dog tore it apart even as Logan was swimming. It did seem like there were more anti-Trump protestors than even Autry thought!
