NBA Rumors: Jeremy Lin Reportedly Joining the Rockets
Jeremy Lin is a hot basketball commodity again following his breakout season with the Charlotte Hornets. The 'Linsanity' star will soon enter the free agency market in July but there are speculations suggesting that he doesn't need to wait long as talks are currently underway to get him to play for the Houston Rockets where his nickname originally emerged. The negotiations are reportedly in its closing stages as Mike D' Antoni assumes position as head coach.
As stated in our previous report, D'Antoni has spawned a generation of NBA teams adhering to his 'Seven Seconds or Less' scheme, a hyper-fast offense that characterized the Steve Nash-era Phoenix Suns, the core Warriors credo led by Stephen Curry, and even the Durant-led OKC Thunder gameplay.
To get his uber-fast formula to work seamlessly with Houston Rockets, Jeremy Lin would be the most suitable candidate who can fill up the point guard requirements that would bolster a hardcourt gameplay built around James Harden.
"D'Antoni is the coach who benefited from Linsanity's run on Broadway-- and the Rockets are in desperate need of a legitimate point guard who can push the pace. You cannot play any version of D'Antoni's famed 'Seven Seconds or Less' offense with Patrick Beverley as the lead point guard," an article piece featured in the Paper City Magazine stated.
To get Lin signed in, the team would have to let go of Dwight Howard in the free agency season to free up cap space. Basketball analysts are already predicting Howard's likely departure following a locker room dispute with Harden that seemed to have spilled over to the games affecting the overall morale of the team.
Apart from the Rockets, Lin also falls within the New York Knicks' talent radar especially with Jeff Hornacek at the helm. Getting him back to New York is essential in Knicks' offense revamp following Phil Jackson's decision to drop his much beloved triangle offense and pursue Rajon Rondo and Lin as the team's offense duo built around Carmelo Anthony, Inquisitr reported.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Lin is reportedly unwinding after Hornets' exit from the playoffs and went on a vacation probably to escape the sweltering heat as summer gradually rolls in. As reported by Movie News Guide, the 'Linsanity' star remains connected to fans while vacationing in Iceland. The latest uploaded video on his YouTube channel shows Lin and some friends or family members doing the 'Running Man Challenge.'
