Samsung Galaxy Note 6 News and Rumors Update: Android Marshmallow Updates across Samsung Galaxy Devices
For a few months now, Alphabet's subsidiary, Google, has already rolled out the Android Version 6.0 update (also called Marshmallow or Android M) across various Android platforms including Samsung Galaxy devices. However, critics have complained over the speed in which the software update is taking place.
According to a report by Neurogadget, Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S7, is already running on Android Marshmallow when it was released to the market so it is only logical for Samsung to ensure that all of its Galaxy Android devices should also be updated with the latest Android software.
T-Mobile subscribers had their Marshmallow update on their Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge last April 11. Users of Galaxy S6 Edge Plus from American network carrier Verizon also got the update on a similar date. Subscribers to Canada-based Telus network received their Android update on April 18. Galaxy Note 5 users on T-Mobile subscription noted that their update arrived on April 18 as well. It seems like all Samsung Galaxy-made gadgets are surely getting their updates from their respective network carriers albeit slowly.
For previous Samsung flagships, owners of Galaxy S5 handset are getting their Marshmallow update in the US on April for Sprint, at least. As per Google rule for Android software upgrade, older gadgets get the update last so it may take a while before all of Samsung's Galaxy devices receive their Marshmallow updates.
According to Tech Radar, there is still no reports on when the Marshmallow upgrade takes effect on older Samsung flagship models like Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, or Galaxy Note 3 as well as for tablet devices that include Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy Tab S, and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.
Meanwhile, there hasn't been any confirmed report on the purported Samsung Galaxy Android N software update. According to a report by Gotta Be Mobile, search giant Google has recently released an Android N Developer Preview confirming many of the features that are expected to come out in its release. Samsung remains silent on Android N but hints on a possible release of the said software upgrade on all of its gadgets in its Galaxy lineup.
Rumors also hint of a possible enhanced software support for stylus when Android N or Android 6.0 update rolls out. If speculations prove accurate, Galaxy Android N might be released sometime in fourth quarter this year. The first batch of devices to receive the said update include Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and Galaxy Note 5.
