WhatsApp gold invite: Is it a scam?
If you have been goofed by someone about a new app from Facebook developers called "WhatsApp gold" read this now!Seems like according to the online rumors that's been abuzz for some days now seems very untrue where according to the scam, it mentions about how you could actually connect with a celebrity. Like, comeon! Who in his sane mind would fall into it? Most of you did!
It seems like 69% of the user base actually fell into this trying to install the app. If you've got such a message this month, it is best to ignore, because there's no such thing as WhatsApp Gold. WhatsApp scams are pretty common, and the latest one is called WhatsApp Gold. This one promises entry into an exclusive club with special features, like the ability to send more than 100 photos in one go, delete messages sent by mistake and more. According to the Telegraph.co.uk users have been receiving this messaging asking them to upgrade to WhatsApp Gold. While there's no such app in the Android Play or iOS App Store, the website mentioned in one of the purported messages "www.goldenversion.com" also give a 404 error.
WhatsApp Gold is not the first scam that has gone viral on the app. Previously scam/spam messages would go viral claiming to be from one of the founders, insisting the user forward the message to 100 friends to show that they were active users, else their account would get shut down.
Also there was the WhatsApp Plus app, which as the Telegraph report points, was not authorized by the company and claimed that it will "let users send pictures, videos and music files of an unlimited size." WhatsApp Gold appears to be another take of this; users should not click on the link as it could be a malware. Also remember to warn all your aunts and uncles that they should not forward the message is it a scam.
