The WWE live shows are without doubt the most highly anticipated TV events for wrestling fans since they can be absolutely sure that nothing is being edited out of the coverage and in addition to that, no one can spoil the show for them by letting them know the results beforehand. For many years, WWE fans have not watched WWE Smackdown, one of the most popular shows, live but that is all going to change this year as the broadcaster of the show, NBC, have decided to broadcast the show live from July of 2016 and needless to say, it is an outstanding piece of news for all WWE fans. NBC announced their plans to air Smackdown live recently in a statement and it comes close on the heels of a conscious effort on the part of different TV networks to have more live content on their networks since they believe that live shows will ensure that people tune in to their TVs rather than watching the show online or through DVR recordings.

The news was first broken on the online publication Variety and since then it has created a lot of excitement among WWE fans. The first live show of WWE Smackdown will be telecast on 19th of July at 8 pm and will go on for two hours. The article also states, "The debut of a live "Smackdown" comes as two of the WWE's biggest attractions, John Cena and Seth Rollins, are returning to competition from injuries. And the company is expected to create strong points of differentiation between "Smackdown" and USA's other live program, "Monday Night Raw," according to the WWE. A draft will be held before the "Smackdown" launch date to determine which wrestlers on the company's talent roster will be assigned to which program. Each show is expected to feature separate cast, plots and writing teams."

Chris McCumber, the president of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment entertainment networks put out a statement in which he stated, "There is a huge appetite among our viewers for live programming and the ability to move 'Smackdown' to a live format brings a new level of excitement and helps truly eventize this every week,"
