Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Rumors and Release Date: Iris Scanner, 6 GB RAM In This Year's Note?
New Galaxy Note 6 rumors suggest the device could join the league of premier devices featuring an iris scanner.
Fingerprint sensors are becoming increasingly common in premier smartphones. Iris scanner is available on a few Windows devices. An iris scanner can improve the security of a smartphone but comes at a premium. If included, it would be a long-list of many firsts that Samsung could introduce in its Note 6 variant this year.
Speculation is rife that Note 6 could be released with as much as 6 GB of RAM. NDTV notes the South Korean giant recently unveiled its 10 nm LPPDR4 6 GB RAM in China. Word has it Note 6 could be the first device to feature the new RAM, which boasts of improved power efficiency.
Reports have also suggested that the phone could feature a massive 4,000 mAh battery. However, given the rumored size and resolution display (5.8-inch and QHD), it remains to be seen how efficient the phone performs in the real world.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was warmly received but did not sell as expected. With the Galaxy Note 6, Samsung could break new ground. One feature that could help is Edge screen variant; Samsung has reportedly been testing two variants of the Galaxy Note 6. One is a flat screen variant and the other the Edge screen variant.
"The Note range tends to follow the design cues of the main Galaxy flagship devices released earlier in the year, so this year's phablet is expected to echo the design of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The two devices rumored to be 'in testing' have identical hardware specifications in all but the screen," reads a Forbes report on the device.
Other specification rumors of the device include storage variants starting at 32 GB, microSD expansion slot, 12 MP rear camera and an S-Pen that can write on the Edge screen.
