Super Junior’s Kangin under investigation for DUI Incident
Kangin, a member of Super Junior reportedly encountered an accident and is under investigation being accused drinking and driving his Mercedes Benz vehicle.
Kangin's Mercedes-Benz collided with a streetlight lamp in front of a convenience store in Sinsa-dong, Seoul and reportedly fled the scene.
The owner of the convenience store reported the incident to the police. The police arrived in the area; however, they did not spot Kangin. After receiving statements from the witnesses who saw the incident, the police identified the involvement of the singer.
On May 24, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station stated he's under investigation after colliding with a lamp post in front of a Gangnam convenience store earlier in the day at 2AM KST. Kangin went to the station in the morning and received questions of the accident. Kangin said, "I remember hitting something, but I didn't have any idea whether it was a street lamp."
From the Police's statements Kangin's blood alcohol concentration was 0.05 percent which is reliable to suspend his license.
Police are still under further investigation of Kangin's case.
Meanwhile, His label, SM Entertainment responds to the accident with the statement, "This is SM Entertainment. It is true that Kangin had a DUI accident. Kangin contacted the police regarding the accident and received an investigation at the arranged time. Kangin is deeply regretful of his actions and will cease all entertainment-related schedules to take some time to self-reflect. Once again, we sincerely apologize for worrying you." as Soompi quoted.
Kangin also encountered same accident in 2009. He was charged with DUI and hit and run during that time. Kangin crashed into a parked taxi that was occupied with three passengers and fled the scene of the accident. He turned himself in eventually - 6 hours afterwards, but the case was still deemed as a hit-and-run. His blood alcohol concentration was 0.082% so as for a suspension of his driver's license. He was charged to pay $8,000 USD for the said incident.
