Manchester United to Give Jose Mourinho £200 Million for Rebuilding Job

Last night Manchester United finally announced what was known to many for at least six months and released a statement indicating that their Dutch manager Louis van Gaal has been let go. Although he guided the club to an FA Cup win last Sunday, the failure to reach the top 4 has sealed his fate and now the club are going to announce the appointment of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at some point this week. The news would certainly be a welcome move for many Manchester United fans following months of disillusionment at the less than impressive football that was dished out but what would excite them more is the fact that the club have sanctioned a budget of a whopping £200 million to Jose Mourinho in order to build a team that would make the club a winning machine once again.

The club are in need of a big overhaul in almost every position and Mourinho would be looking to add high quality reinforcements with the help of that huge transfer kitty this summer. One of his top targets for the summer is Everton's young central defender John Stones, who had been a target for Mourinho during the previous summer transfer window when he was at Chelsea and he is likely to cost around £45 million. Another player in his sights is his former Chelsea defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and it is expected that a bid of around £25 million would be enough to bring him to Old Trafford. Real Madrid's French defender Raphael Varane is also thought to be one of the targets for Mourinho.

However, something that would make him uncomfortable is the fact that United's Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, who has confortably been the stand out performer for the club for two seasons is still being courted by Real Madrid and considering the fact that the player had almost signed for the Los Blancos last season, it remains a genuine threat. Losing De Gea would be unacceptable to Mourinho and he would try everything in his power to keep the goalkeeper at the club.
