Gabe Newell's first exclamation on the release of 'Half Life 3' would celebrate its tenth anniversary on May 24. There were promises on the release of the game in the Christmas season of 2007. However, there is yet to be any official remark on the status of the release.

To elaborate on the negligence of this revelation, Polygon has compiled a video stressing on Newell, not deliberating on the release of 'Half Life 3'. As per the content of the video, Valve has not spoken on this matter for the last seven years - it was 2009 when he last spoke on the possibility.

However, according to reports, Newell, made an attempt to justify the silence of Valve on the entire issue in 2012, stating that the company is facing certain hiccups, which would drive people crazy than being composed. Therefore, until and unless, the future plot of the game is clear in the minds of the makers, they would refrain from any revelation regarding the same.

All these speculations, however, were silenced to a certain extent in 2015 when a statement from an important source revealed that they had scrapped the idea. As per the revelation, the third season of Half Life 3 would be considered only if there is a material reason to do so. This came after an alleged disclosure by the chairwoman of HTC to the BBC discussing on their co-operation with Half Life. Her statement did fuel the long-dormant excitement and hopes for the Half Life release, which was appeased again as the statement was retracted.

She claimed that her mention was related to HTC's association with Valve to create the next generation virtual reality experience which would bring a revolution in the gaming arena.

Despite all, there are speculations among fans that 'Half Life 3' would be showcased at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo, which is scheduled from June 14 to 16.
