In a news report, network said that after they fired Stana Katic and signed new contracts with five new actors, including Nathan Fillion, the show cancellation was one of the toughest decisions that ABC had to take.
"At the end of the day, we didn't feel that even though Castle and Nashville were wonderful shows and good performers for a long time, the future for us didn't lie in those shows," Channing Dungey, ABC Entertainment Group president, said about the show cancellation.
There were many reasons that led to cancellation of "Castle" and among these were poor ratings, criticism that the network received after they fired Stana Katic and Tamala Jones and the budget issues.
