Who will be the next James Bond is one of the most interesting questions affecting several discussions over the different social media platforms. Recently, Gillian Anderson's name popped up as a contender for the role, during a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #NextBond.

Anderson took no time to respond to the posts, and her response hints that she might be the next person to take the role of the famous spy. It also suggests that the production team might want to indulge in gender flipping the character this time.

Anderson, 47, took to Twitter to repost a poster made by a fan. The poster portrayed her in place of Craig. The poster had "007" in its title, along with "Bond.. Jane Bond."

The actress did not stay back from thanking her fans for all the support through their votes. She also added the hashtag #NextBond to her caption, clearly indicating that she might be up for the role of the famous spy. She also appreciated the poster made by the fan.

According to reports, Anderson might be more than ready to take up the role of the next Bond. After having done tough roles in Hannibal and The X-Files, Anderson is someone who can 'remain shaken but not stirred.'

The #NextBond trended on Twitter after reports surfaced that Daniel Craig has turned down a huge amount of money and has refused to return as Bond on the famous series. Previously, during an interview, Craig has confessed that he is not interested in returning as the Bond.

While Anderson might give her best to fit in the new role, it is yet to see whether fans would like the idea of gender-swapping an iconic role. Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleson and Idris Elba are the other actors who are rumored to be next in like to play the iconic role.
