Trading cards are now gaining a popular comeback and the Legend of Zelda franchise is riding along with it. To compensate for the huge and repeated disappointment inflicted on fans with the game's purported release on Wii U a year from now instead of this year, Nintendo is finding ways to preoccupy them with the latest buzz on Zelda-branded trading cards.

As reported by Game Spot, Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda will soon get its own trading cards as indicated in an EB Games Australia pre-order online listing for the said collectible.

Mentioned in the product description, the set will showcase "images from 5 different games," namely, the Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, A Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time, and Skyward Sword. The trading cards set will reportedly have 85 cards in the base set which include 23 regular cards, 8 gold foil cards, 12 decals, and 9 tattoos.

The news initially broke out when Nintendo Life revealed that the Zelda-branded trading cards will be launched in the last day of June this year. The only problem is that the trading cards will only be available in Australia with no fixed product release happening elsewhere.

In a related development, Nintendo is reportedly planning on exploring a similar footing in the Japanese market for game-inspired trading cards with the forthcoming release of Splatoon-themed cards. The 52-card pack is said to include two characters, namely, Squid Sisters Callie and Marie on two joker cards. The Splatoon playing cards will hit Japanese retail stores later this July.

As for the highly anticipated follow-up installment to the popular Zelda-series is tentatively slated for release on both Wii U and next gen console codenamed NX. The official title is not yet revealed as developers work on some interesting development. The game was originally set for 2016 launch but was again postponed into 2017.
