The Blacklist Season 3 Spoilers and News: Red Faces Surprise Standoff in Finale

New rumors suggest that Red (James Spader) is gearing up for a surprise standoff with Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) with an unexpected interference in season 3 finale of the NBC hit series 'The Blacklist.'

Raymond 'Red' Reddington has painstakingly staked all resources at his disposal in a manhunt for Alexander Kirk, reportedly the brains responsible for Elizabeth Keen's (Megan Boone) shocking death.

The task force closing in on Kirk seemed all set as they trace down Susan Hargrave hoping to get hold of the suspect until an unexpected betrayal by one of the task force agents left the operation hanging in the balance.

In the trailer, Red almost had Kirk in his kill radar but the latter escaped after the FBI meeting. With a resolute mind stubbornly fixed on avenging Liz's death, Red devises a plan to hunt Kirk with the FBI team.

However, in the turn of events, FBI special agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) aimed his gun at Red while the latter readied his weapon to shoot Kirk. Movie News Guide suggests a possibility of Ressler being a double agent at Kirk's service.

Melty, on the other hand, offers an alternative explanation saying that Ressler is a meticulous by-the-book agent who has a penchant for following strict agency protocols. Pointing a gun at Red could mean that he is trying to keep Red from breaking FBI rules which could be used against him.

It seems like Red has already set his mind on planting a bullet on Kirk by hook or by crook. He will either die or, at least, die trying. It will be a standoff indeed as both Red and Ressler look unwilling to step back and think things over.

In another scene, Tom (Ryan Eggold) appears running away as he heads out to a helicopter with his baby Agnes. Last episode, he was seen turning down Susan 'Scottie' Hargrave's (Famke Janssen) offer to work as part of Halcyon. In that episode, he also discovered that Hargrave was his mother. Where Tom is heading to with the baby is still riddled with mystery. Vine Report suggests that it could be the start of a Blacklist spinoff titled 'Redemption.'
