Yu Yunicorn Release Date and Update: Yu postpones Yunicorn launch

Recently, Micromax's sub-brand Yu Televentures sent out media invites for the launch of its flagship smartphone Yunicorn on May 19. However, the company has now postponed the event to May 31.The company has also revealed that the new handset will run Android and will have Micromax's Around You service integrated with it. The new YU Yunicorn smartphone will be available online.

Recently, YU Televentures CEO Rahul Sharma announced a new platform that would act as a source code bank for developers. Using the platforms, developers will be able to download source codes and play with them on different devices.Internally dubbed as 'Project Highway,' the platform will be populated with source codes from the likes of Google, MediaTek and Qualcomm. These will then go through the company's in-house developers, and will later be released to end users.

Last month, Yu launched its first phablet dubbed as Yureka Note. The company has priced the device at Rs 13,499 and it is available for purchase on all retail stores. The Yu Yureka Note has a 6-inch full HD display with 1,920x1,280 pixels' resolution and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powering the device is a 1.5GHz MediaTek processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The in-built storage of the phablet stands at 16GB and can be further expanded using a microSD card.
