Video: Cops Charge Four For Mother's Day Brawl In Japanese Steakhouse
Four people filmed during a Mother's Day brawl, which got uploaded online, have gone viral and have been identified by the Atlanta police.
The suspects who were taken into custody included three family members. They are 26-year-old Devecc Bilingslea, 25-year-old Zacarli Dalcoe and 26-year-old Willis Jumario Hall, and also the restaurant employee, 21-year-old Demonte Harrison. They had all been taken in charge for disorderly conduct in connection with the May 8 fight at Kiku Japanese Steakhouse in East Point, Ga.
Harrison, a busboy, had been cleaning tables when a woman ticked him off for smiling. Harrison replied that it was his job to smile, which brought Hall into the picture and made him punch the busboy. The fight was joined by cousin Dalcoe along with Bilingslea.
Attorney Charles Webb, who is representing Hall, Billingslea and Dalcoe, agreed that the video fails to tell the whole story. After the video goes public, he said that the client will get exonerated.
Webb is firm that the video does not show what Harrison had been doing before the fight, which made the family members call the manager to the table.
"They had requested a manager come to the table and that caused problems between the waiter and the family," Webb said. "Once this particular case plays out in a court of law, it will show my clients were only defending themselves against the assault on them."
Although the video shows the three family members starting the fight, the police decided to slap Harrison with disorderly conduct as the latter part of the video shows him chasing the other family members outside and kicking the car.
"When they came back to the location, that's when the employees attacked them again, kicking the side of their car," Webb said.
Webb also explained that the family had visited their mother's grave site on that day. She had died only in January, which provoked them to begin the fight.
"They would never assault anyone, but based upon what transpired in the case, they are perceived as having assaulted this waiter and that is simply not the case," Webb said.
Meanwhile, the four men might face six months to one-year imprisonment along with a fine of up to $1,000 and a likely restitution.
Harrison too may have an attorney, though the fact is not too clear.
