According to most experts, Cristiano Ronaldo is quite possibly the greatest ever player to have played for Real Madrid, a club which is without doubt one of the biggest in the world in terms of any parameter one can think of. However, he has not had the best season by his own standards in 2015-16 in spite of socring more than 50 goals in the season but there was widespread speculation across the Spanish and European media that the player was on his way out of Real Madrid in the summer of 2016. However, according to latest comments from well known Spanish journalis Gullem Balague, who is known to have a keen understanding of the goings on inside the top clubs in Spain, the star could stay on at Real Madrid and continue to help the team in achieving new glories during his last few years as an elite footballer.

Balague was speaking to Sky Sports when he said,"Man City have to renew their squad, Man Utd have to renew their squad, Chelsea have to renew their squad, Barcelona have to make changes, Real Madrid have to bring in new blood. And there's not enough players. There's money, but not enough players. All of a sudden, they may probably think twice about getting rid of Cristiano. There is [Robert] Lewandowski, who they could replace him with, but who else is there out there? Nobody out there has risen to that level that you think they will be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo soon."

He went on to state that even though Real had decided to cash in on their star in the summer and even his agent had stated that a deal with PSG was close to completion, it seems that the club has realised that keeping Ronaldo is perhaps the best option. "Real have gone from putting a price for Ronaldo to now thinking that there is no clear replacement in the market. Cristiano has been thinking all season this is his last at Madrid and even his house was put up for rent. As a consequence of the lack of alternatives in the market, Real might offer Ronaldo a new contract"
