Zlatan Ibrahimovic Announces Decision to Leave PSG
Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly leaving Paris St-Germain at the end of the season. The 34-year-old top PSG scorer's contract with the French club is due to expire in the summer making him a free agent by the time he leaves the team. He even wrote on his Instagram "I came like a King, left like a Legend."
PSG likewise confirmed his exit amid rumored links with AC Milan, Los Angeles Galaxy, and Manchester United.
"Following discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent, the club and its player have decided mutually not to renew the contract that links both parties until June 30, 2016. They agreed as well that once the player ends his active football career he would be back in the club in a managerial capacity," PSG's official statement reads as quoted by EuroSport.Com.
Ibrahimovic is PSG's most prolific goal scorer in its club history despite only joining the club four years ago, posting a record of 152 goals in 178 appearances. Since his arrival, PSG have won every single season at Ligue 1 wrapping up the race for a title finish with only two months left on his contract. The famed striker is also France's top scorer in 2012-13 and 2013-14 and is 15 goals ahead of Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette this season.
"I loved every day I spent here," said Ibrahimovic as quoted by BBC News. "Paris St-Germain has become a star club in the world and I played a key role moving it forward. It is now the right time for me to take a different path."
Meanwhile, an Italian media outfit recently claimed that Ibrahimovic will be joining an already star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy once his PSG contract expires this summer. As mentioned by Sports Illustrated, the report claims that there is 90% chance that Ibrahimovic will go to LA to play and 10% chance to sign in with Manchester United. The news gained steamed after ESPN FC also ran a report on Ibrahimovic's decision to play in US-based Major League Soccer (MLS).
