Truecaller brings Live Caller ID Feature on their iOS App
Truecaller Live Caller ID is finally here. But only for iPhones for now. The much-awaited live Caller ID feature for iPhones is finally there after a lot of expectations and speculations. The company has updated Truecaller for iPhone appbringing the new feature. However, there's a catch. Seems like for now, this only works if another Truecaller user is calling you. Now this is something absurd but we guess Truecaller for now are experimenting this feature. This is the only limitation of the app for now.
To explain the thing for you, earlier all iPhone users were forcefully fed the incoming caller's number into the Truecaller app to identify the same. They could even snap their screens. But now, they get a "true" caller live ID only if the opposite end also is using the same app. Both the caller and the receiver must be on the latest version of the app. The feature will work if the caller is on Android or iPhone but for the latter the caller will need to place the call via the Truecaller app on iPhone.
The company in its blog post announcing the new feature says that both parties need to have a 3G, 4G or "strong Wi-Fi connection" for live caller ID to work. "In order for the caller ID feature to work, Truecaller asks you to keep the app running in the background." This is being much to ask for,but the only thing that would affect the performance if that is, are your phone batteries.
Truecaller on its blog clarified that the app is 'work in progress' and will make improvements in the coming week. Live caller ID had already been a part of the Android ecosystem for about a few years now, but due to API restrictions by Apple the company was unable to bring the feature to iPhone.
