Barcelona's Luis Suarez Sends a Message to Rivals Real Madrid Ahead of Tense Week in the La Liga
Barcelona's Uruguayan hitman and the league's top goal scorer Luis Suarez has started the mind games ahead of this weekend's tense game week in the La Liga by stating that the Catalan club is the best in the world. It is a comment that is sure to prick Real Madrid, who are one point behind them and would need to win their last game against Deportivo la Coruna in order to have any chance of winning the La Liga. However, even if they win their last game, Real Madrid would win the league only if Barcelona fail to win their last fixture against Granada. So the ball is firmly in the latter's court. As one can see, the last game week of the Spanish La Liga is a tense affair and Luis Suarez seemed to toke the fire a bit with his latest comments.
"We are the best team in the world, and we know the pressure that comes with it, but we depend on ourselves. Granada will want to win for their own pride. With the goals and assists, if we win the league they have assisted that, but the collective attitude is part of that too. We are aware that the fate is in our hands. We have enough time to win the game. We know there will be difficult moments, as that always happens at this stage of the league." Considering the fact that the team won the treble last season and were dominant for better part of this season before the horrible spell in April makes it a bit hard to refuse to not see where Suarez is coming from. However, Real Madrid would be playing the UEFA Champions League at the end of this month and they would certainly have a lot to say in order to counter that statement from Suarez.
He went on to add how they are going to approach the game, since they simply cannot afford a draw or a loss, "It's key to keep a clean sheet, we know that we have what it takes in attack," he said. "We can win the two titles [the other being the Copa del Rey] or lose them." It is going to be a tense weekend for both sets of players and the fans of the two clubs.
