NBA Rumors: Stephen Curry Returning To Golden State Warriors in Game 4
Stephen Curry is finally back after missing four games following a mild MCL injury in his right knee during the Golden State Warriors' Game 5 against Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.
With his presence on the hardcourt at Game 4, Warriors crushed the Portland Trail Blazers 132-125 in an overtime play at the Moda Center on Monday night. As of now, the Golden State now leads the semis with 3-1.
The Warriors star point guard entered in the game's first quarter with 5:58 remaining. Even as the Blazers was ahead by as many as 16 points, the reigning MVP magnificently turned the tide for the team and gave a wonderful finish by scoring 40 points including record 17 points in overtime plus nine rebounds and eight assists in 37 minutes according to Oregon Live. Draymond Green contributed 21 points, nine rebounds, and five assists to make the Golden State win the fourth of the best-of-seven series.
After the game, the media pressed Coach Steve Kerr on how Curry was made available for Game 4's active lineup.
"Talking with Steph, talking with our medical people, and talking with [Warriors general manager] Bob [Myers]. That was the process," Kerr said as quoted by ESPN.
Meanwhile, reports are strongly rooting out for Curry to retain his MVP title this season. As mentioned in a report by Fox Sports, he was clearly tipped to win the highly coveted title with his remarkable long-range shooting skills as well as his incredibly slick handling of the ball as he led the Golden State Warriors to an NBA-record of 73 wins in the regular season which finally broke the previous 72-win record by Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls in the 1995-96 season.
Last year's championship title was the team's first in 40 years. Most basketball fans don't find the whole honor surprising at all as he has consistently been a frontrunner for the award. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, he seems heading for a repeat. The only question remains whether he'll set another record by becoming the first NBA player to be unanimously awarded with the title.
