Super Mario Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft News: Mario seen in Minecraft
There will be a release of yet another cosmetic (which involves skins for existing characters like dress changes or even new type of visuals etc.) DLC for one specific version of Minecraft. The latest skin pack for the game makes it a point that this would be the first time first time that characters from Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. series will be coming to, in a game published by Microsoft.
The "Super Mario Mash-Up Pack" will be released for no costs involved for the gamers themselves hence making it a point that DLCs can be free too. (Looking at you Ubi and EA) for the Wii U version of the game on May 17. This will also be included on the retail disc when it launches on June 17. It includes 40 Mario-themed skins, new world and item textures inspired by the Mario series, and 15 pieces of music from Super Mario 64. This might be interesting afterall. Skins from a game developed by someone else landing on a game developed by someone else. But this also proves the point that developers can sometime co-operate with each other for mutual benefits.
Releasing special content is specifically targeted at Wii U players and this may seem odd for Microsoft after the company spent $2.5 billion to acquire minecraft maker Mojang back in 2014. Microsoft after acquisition promised that the many existing versions of Minecraft on platforms like PlayStation systems, iOS, and Android wouldn't be affected by the purchase.
The company has stood true to their words till now releasing a Wii U version just a few months ago and even featuring Sony's LittleBigPlanet series in DLC for the PlayStation 4 version of the game last year.
