South Korean actor Choi Sung Won from a hit Korean drama "Reply 1988" has diagnosed with acute leukemia. On May 9, producers of the actor's supposed new drama "Mirror of the Witch" released an official statement regarding the actor's current condition.

The producers announced that Choi Sung Won will be leaving his current project due to his health condition. With the statement stating: "Actor Choi Sung Won will be leaving the drama. Originally, he is planned to cast on the drama as Dong Rae, but on May 4, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. He will be leaving the show for his complete treatment. He acquired a minor injury while filming, but soon realized that his recovery is slowly progressing and that his body seems not in a usual state. After further examination, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Acute leukemia treatment has a higher rate when treatment starts early. Because Choi Sung Won's case was discovered in the early stages, the doctor said a full recovery is possible through comprehensive treatment. Since the actor's health is more important than anything else, he decided to leave to focus on his treatment.

Choi Sung Won was more dedicated about filming than anyone else, and he loved the drama a lot. However, he believed that he should not bring harm to the drama, and the staff also believed that he must focus on his treatment. Since he was one of the leading actors, the staff are disappointed but decided to respect his actions because his recovery is the top priority.

We thank Choi Sung Won for all the passion he showed us, and we ask fans to show support so he can recover quickly. (Allkpop)

His agency's CEO Park Moo Shin emotionally thanked everyone for the love and support they give to Sung Won.

"Mirror of the Wich" will set to start its airing on May 13 at 8:30pm (KST) starring Yoon and actress Kim Se-ron.
