Instant Noodles Cause Heart Diseases and Stroke: Study
Eating instant noodles elevates the risk of cardio-metabolic syndrome in women, warns a study.
Ready to eat noodles and food products save the burden of cooking, time and energy. A recent research in South Korea, which tops the list of noodle-eating countries in the world, found noodle lovers are at risk of developing stroke, diabetes and heart attack. The experts found cardio-metabolic syndromes were prevalent among women who ate noodles more than twice a week.
The study examined physiological and hormonal differences in men and women like hormone levels, obesity and metabolic rate. It was noted women's eating habits and intake of unhealthy diet like processed food and instant noodles influenced their probability of dying from deadly health conditions.
In addition, the findings also revealed the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) used in storing noodles in Styrofoam containers alters hormonal balance and estrogen levels in women leading to stroke, diabetes and heart problems.
"This research is significant since many people are consuming instant noodles without knowing possible health risks. My hope is that this study can lay a foundation for future research about the health effects of instant noodle consumption," said Hyun Joon Shin, study author and a nutrition epidemiology doctoral student at Harvard School of Public Health, in a news release.
The authors, therefore, urge people to adopt healthy eating habits to prevent occurrence of diseases and ailments.
