iPhone 7 Rumors And News: Headphone Jack To Reappear And Apple To Put In Big Batteries?

Rumor mills have been furiously working this week to propose two interesting bits of speculation that go against the wave of existing talk. New reports suggest iPhone 7 will feature a battery bigger than that of iPhone 6S and more importantly, the headphone jack may figure in the device.

Leaked images from China purport to show batteries of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus which have capacities slightly higher than iPhone 6S and its bigger cousin iPhone 6S Plus which were equipped with 1715 mAh and 2750 mAh batteries. The images reportedly show 1735 mAh and 2810 mAh batteries meant for this year's iPhone.

Besides implying slightly higher usage per charge, the batteries also raise questions about the demand for more power. Why should Apple provide only a slightly bigger in iPhone 7 when it is not expected to be different from its predecessor? Clearly it is not to provide substantial bigger battery life, for which Apple would have needed a significantly larger battery.

The additional power, according to rumor mills, is to power the second speaker and the dual camera setup that is being speculated. Apple iPhone 7 is expected to feature the same body and screen display of iPhone 6S with the exception of headphone jack and dual rear camera module.

Contrastingly, other reports have suggested the iPhone 7 may feature the headphone jack. This draw support from the speculation that iPhone 7 will not be thinner than the iPhone 6S. Leaked images of an assembly part also purported to show headphone port attached.

However, noted analysts including Ming-Chi Kuo believe Apple will do away with the headphone jack and restrict audio usage to lightning. The speculation is Apple will also introduce Lightning headphones with iPhone 7.
