WWE News and Rumors: Chris Jericho Appearing In Backstage Despite Exit Announcement on Twitter

He did it again! Chris Jericho's teasing statement on Twitter of a possible departure just triggered a hail of reactions on the social media as it got people questioning whether he'd leave the company for good...again.

On Sunday night, Dean Ambrose buried him at Sunday's Payback event and after a crushing defeat at Ambrose's hands, the WWE six-time world champion tweeted this message:

"Thanks @wwe....it's been real. See you next time."

This isn't the first time the professional wrestler threw his towel in the ring. Also, he seems to love poking fun on people with spoilers and teasers. The 46-year old former champ has been an active microblogger on Twitter and fans just couldn't get enough of him. While news of his speculated exit from the promotion sounds possible, fans still expect him to be on the company's Japan tour in the SummerSlam.

For some WWE observers, his tweet may be part of his grand design as far as his evolving character is concerned. He may appear in the forthcoming Japan tour before finally saying farewell, if he really intends to leave that is.

"Considering trolling the internet has been a key component of his latest rudo character, it's entirely possible the Tweet is a work - or part of one. Jericho has been forthright in interviews about his love of working house shows ever since he stopped working as a full-timer, too, so he could be done with television and still be a part of the two dates in Japan in a couple months," wrote Sean Rueter of SB Nation.

But if a recent event is of any indication, Jericho may not be leaving WWE at all. On Monday Raw event, he surprisingly showed up and assaulted Ambrose with a plant called 'Mitch' according to WWE's latest wrestling roundup.

If we were to take lessons in studying his past actions, taking extended breaks from WWE programming is more like a norm for Jericho than an exception. Besides, he did take a two-year break after getting pounded in the head by Randy Orton some six years ago according to Bleacher Report.
