Disney's "The Jungle Book" is still a box office buster. In spite of an initial weekend prediction of $70 million, the Jon Favreau-directed live-action fairy tale garnered $103 million, which has made it one of the highest-grossing Hollywood runs this year.

With $255.8 million domestically and $452.8 million overseas that adds up to $708.6 million, the movie ranks as this year's fourth-highest draw and Disney's second 2016 movie crossing the $700 million mark. The other film to do that was "Zootopia".

"The Jungle Book" has surpassed $600 million on April 29 and then added $100 million to its international total due to North American strongholds. It has always been a top earner every day since its release. With the past weekend's earnings of $43.7 million, it has been the sixth-best third weekend through all history.

In China, which is rapidly becoming the most important international market for box office success, "The Jungle Book" has earned $138.8 million to become Disney's third-largest release in the country. In India, "The Jungle Book" has already become the highest-grossing Hollywood release of all time with $34.4 million. Other important markets include France ($19.4 million), Mexico ($19.9 million) and the U.K. ($48 million). The film hasn't even yet opened in Korea (June 9) or Japan (Aug. 11).

Disney's lucky streak this year has made it a blockbuster year for the Mouse House. Beginning with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($2.06 billion) in December 2015 and followed with the release of "Captain America: Civil War," this year has brought in a treasure trove.

With Neel Sethi in the lead role of Mowgli, the movie also features voice performances by Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong'o, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken. It has an awesome 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes  and an A CinemaScore from audiences.
