The laptop's battery will certainly get a reduced capacity after two years. To access your device's battery information, simply click on the Apple logo located in the top-left portion of the menu bar then choose > About This Mac > System Report > Power.
When you reach the battery information page, you'll get to see the bat's health status including its max capacity and the power remaining. As per MacRumors, the following are heath status indicators and their meanings:
Normal: The battery is functioning normally.
Replace Soon: The battery is functioning normally but holds less charge than it did when it was new. You should monitor the health of the battery by checking the battery status menu periodically.
Replace Now: The battery is functioning normally but holds significantly less charge than it did when it was new. You can safely continue using your computer, but if its lowered charging capacity is affecting your experience, you should take it to an Apple Store or Apple-authorized service provider.
Service Battery: The battery isn't functioning normally. You can safely use your Mac when it's connected to an appropriate power adapter, but you should take it to an Apple Store or Apple-authorized service provider as soon as possible.
According to Silicon Angle, some third-party OS X apps are also available to provide battery status such as Battery Health and CoconutBattery. However, data provided by these apps may not be entirely accurate as per Apple warning.
Should you need a replacement, getting an extended warranty by paying for AppleCare Protection Plan of its notebooks will give a MacBook warranty that's good for three years from the date of purchase. AppleCare costs between $249 and $349 but it does offer free replacement for laptop batteries with less than 80% of their originally capacity, Tech Times reported. Without such, replacement would entail more cost.
