Drake-Meek Mill Feud: Update: Drake Says He Hasn't Spoken To Nicki Minaj Since His Spat With Her Boyfriend Meek Mill
Finally, Drake's new album "Views From the 6" dropped last Friday. While the Canadian rapper halted at Beats 1 radio to meet his host Zane Lowe, he admitted that he has not talked to his dear friend, Nicki Minaj, after getting into a public spat with her boyfriend Meek Mill.
The rapper Mill called Drake out on July 2015 for writing his raps with the help of a ghostwriter. While Drake did not react on social media, he released a couple of Meek Mill diss tracks, "Back to Back" and "Charged Up."
This damaged the close friendship between Minaj and Drake, who have both signed the same label with Young Money.
"I don't really talk to Nicki," Drake told Lowe during his interview. "She's another person I have a lot of love for, a lot of respect to her and the past and what we built. I understand what love is and I understand a personal situation. She dealt with me how I would expect her to: with class. I would do the same you know. There were times I was sitting there, waiting to see, you know, how deep is your love? I have respect for Nicki, but unfortunately, we haven't spoken."
Other stars the "Hotline Bling" rapper mentioned were Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Jay Z.
Drake admitted that Swift is "just such a sweetheart" and that she was "so angelic" to him.
Of Rihanna, the "Work" diva, he said that there would not be a Drake album without Rihanna. "The music we make and energy between us is genuine," he said.
Drake revealed his love for West, but admitted that Jay Z's appearance on "Pop Style" was because West asked the rapper to jump on the track. Yet, their relationship is under strain, he said.
"I've expressed my admiration for Jay countless times," Drake said of Jay Z. "Sometimes we just fall on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the rap world."
