Marvel's Netflix series "Daredevil" Season 2 was not the hit that the first one was. Still, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher was an important highlight in it. Its rogue anti-hero is a favorite comic book character too. Bernthal was appreciated as the "best on-screen representation" after two movie franchises with Punisher as the lead failed.

But at last, he is getting a television series for himself.

Watch out for it, you Marvel fans! Marvel has asked for a spin-off show which has featured Bernthal's Punisher after the hugely positive response to his introduction in "Daredevil's" second season. While a few months ago, a lone show for the character was whispered in the rumour mill, it is now declared to be official.

Bernthal will become a vengeance-seeking Frank Castle, dishing out justice to criminals in Hell's Kitchen. The showrunner will be a writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot.

This is the sixth series that Netflix has bagged from the comic book studio. Apart from "Daredevil," Netflix has produced a season of "Jessica Jones," is producing "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist," and will also feature the ensemble "The Defenders".

Marvel has not released any particular details of the Punisher standalone series, even though it released the first teaser image for the new show

"Daredevil" season two is available for streaming on Netflix.
