Legend of Zelda Wii U Release Date and Updates: Game’s Delay Explained
An odd mixture of despair and upset seems to have pervaded among Nintendo fans particularly those who have waited too long for this year's arrival of the Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately, the game has been delayed again due to a number of emerging 'possibilities'.
What these emerging possibilities mean are everybody's guess. Although the official statement talks about how the Japanese gaming giant tries to enrich and expand the Zelda gaming experience. Still the feeling of being lied or cheated is pretty understandable given the enormous waiting time the fans have to endure with.
Producer Eiji Aonuma goes to great lengths of making fans understand the decision developers have to make in creating the most 'complete' game possible.
"In these last three months, as the team has experienced first-hand the freedom of exploration that hasn't existed in any Zelda game to date, we have discovered several new possibilities for this game," remarked Aonuma as quoted by VideoGamer.com.
"As we have worked to turn these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, and it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds my own expectations."
Some analysts have taken this delay as a deliberate attempt to develop a cross-platform release for both Wii U and the upcoming new Nintendo console that's being codenamed as 'NX". To allay the anger and mounting frustrations among fans, Aonuma expressed his deep apology for the current delay.
"So, I must apologize to all of you who were expecting the game by year's end, but we are no longer making a 2015 release our number one priority. Instead, our priority is to make it the ultimate and most complete Zelda game," an apologetic Aonuma said as quoted by Cinema Blend.
"I hope to use the added time to make a Zelda on Wii U that will reward you for your patience, so thank you for your continued support."
Meanwhile, Nintendo has just moved the purported release date for the next generation console 'NX' to next year in an announcement that coincided with the company's annual fiscal-year sales report last Wednesday. Until the announcement, it was widely anticipated that Nintendo NX would be launched at June's E3 event.
"For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed 'NX' with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally," said the report as mentioned in the 'outlook' section, ARS Technica reported.
