NBA Rumors: Stephen Curry Trying To Recover From Knee Injury before May 9

Golden State Warriors ace player and incumbent MVP title holder indicated that he's trying to get back to work on or before May 9 to lead the team in defending the franchise's NBA championship title against other strong contenders for the title.

The scoring machine, who just broke his own record when he reached his 400th three-pointer mark this season, has taken a medical break following an injury in Game 4 in their first-rounder game in the West Conference playoffs against the Houston Rockets. When recent MRI scan revealed Grade 1 sprain (mildest form of sprain), teammates and fans alike were relieved. Doctors advised him to recuperate for at least two weeks before returning. A Warriors game without Curry could be morally devastating on the court.

"Feeling better but just got a ways to go. I always have an optimistic view, no matter what it is. I hope to get back sooner. I haven't talked to the doctors, athletic training staff, all the experts. That two-week timeline was, as Bob (Myers, GM) says, an educated guess," said Curry as per ESPN report.

"It's nice to have a break. The boys took care of business, so we can get a little bit of built-in rest."

To get himself back in shape, Curry is rehabilitating his injured knee for about three times a day by practicing in the Warrior's training facility four to five hours. Whether he can beat this two-week timetable is anybody's guess. Realistically speaking, he might not be in full 100% form when comes back. Nevertheless, his optimism remains incredibly high as he hopes to return in fortnight.

"I always have an optimistic view, no matter what it is. I hope to get back sooner. Having talked to the doctors and athletic training staff, all the experts, that two-week timeline, as Bob said, was an educated guess on cases, other situations on guys that hurt the same thing I did and the kind of recovery time they had," said Curry as quoted by NBA.com.

"Everybody heals differently, whether it's before two weeks, after two weeks, right at two weeks, the plan is to stay the same. Every day I'm getting treatment, every day I'm trying to do what I need to do to get back on the floor. When the body says it's time, then we'll push that button."

As per Gulf News, Curry is also lifting weights and doing cycling rounds on a stationary bike but admitted feeling knee pain when he goes in for a shot at the basket in his workout sessions.

Even without Curry, the Golden State Warriors still routed the Houston Rockets in Game 5 finish that will send the team face-to-face with Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the West Conference playoffs.
