It has been a while since this book has been anticipated, more than four years to be precise. Fans are also disappointed to see that its TV screen adaptation, "Game of Thrones," is far more advanced than the book.

For all the fans who are eagerly waiting for the next installment of George RR Martin's creation, it is possible that it may be released sometime in May. The rumor was started recently that "The Winds of Winter" might arrive next month for its fans.

Martin's target was to finish this book much before season 6 of the show was to be aired. In fact, he skipped traditional appearances and even turned down show invitations so that he can focus on the book.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he told Entertainment Weekly. However, early this year, Martin announced that his book is far from being complete and that he is no where ending it anytime soon. In his statement, he explains that the delay is mainly because of his prior engagements and also his age. "You can blame my age, and maybe that had an impact too," he mentions on his blog.

According to previous reports, Martin does not intend to take on any new projects until he finishes "The Winds of Winter." While some speculate that the book will arrive before "GoT" season 7, some say that it might arrive next month.
