WWE Rumors: Chyna's Cause of Death Found Out To Be 'Accidental Overdose'
Chyna, one of WWE's most familiar faces and former intercontinental champion, recently passed away due to a dangerous cocktail of prescription drugs which the authorities declared as 'accidental overdose.'
The 46-year-old wrestler, whose real name is Joanie Laurer, was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Redondo Beach apartment when her manager, Anthony Anzaldo dropped by to check on her.
Anzaldo speculated that she might have died of an accidental overdose of prescription medication consisting of Valium and Ambien. He further noted that the former wrestling champ may had already been dead before he got to her apartment.
"She was inappropriately taking her legally prescribed medication over the course of two to three weeks. On Sunday night, her body had enough," said Anzaldo as quoted by New York Daily News.
"Her normal amount was one thing, but over the course of time she was increasing, and not properly."
While official report on the cause of her death is yet to be released after an investigation, LA County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner's office's preliminary observation coincided with Anzaldo's comment that Chyna may had died for a few days before she was found.
"Evidently either a friend or someone close to her hadn't talked to her since Sunday and they went over there and went in and found her deceased or unresponsive. Paramedics were called and she was pronounced dead at the scene," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said as quoted by Mirror.
In spite of her successful professional entertainment wrestling career, Chyna constantly struggled with a number of personal troubles manifesting into sleeping problems and anxiety.
To confront her life's problems, she intermittently had substance abuse issues although alcohol was nowhere to be found when she was found dead in her home. She was also reportedly dealing with insomnia all through her life and often asked her doctor for prescription drugs to calm her down and make her sleep.
"A lot was going on in her life emotionally. But she wasn't depressed; it was just a lot to deal with. She accidentally, over the course of two or three weeks, misused her legally prescribed medication. They're not going to find, like, 60 pills in her stomach," Anzaldo said as per Independent report.
