Donald Trump Hires One More Veteran GOP Operative In His Bid For Delegates
Donald Trump is going full guns at Sen. Ted Cruz and Texas Governor John Kasich. Even as they are trying to stall him, the GOP frontrunner has hired another veteran political operative to get him his number of delegates required so that he can secure his nomination.
Hence, the latest joiners in his campaign include Ken McKay as senior adviser and Paul Manafort as convention manager.
They will be announced late Monday in Trump's efforts to counter the damage by Cruz to winning the needed 1,237 delegates for the Republican presidential nomination by June 8. While it is difficult for Ted Cruz to win the nomination in conventional ways, he has stalled Trump by taking advantage of the local convention process so that he can acquire delegates in some states that have already called together primaries and caucuses.
Being an experienced and successful adviser, McKay is viewed as a "good pick" by Trump.
"This is a serious strategist and tactician," said Curt Anderson, who was former presidential candidate Bobby Jindal's chief strategist. "This is not a guy who wastes his time going on cable TV and running his mouth. Trump hiring Ken McKay is a bad thing for the Ted Cruz campaign, I can assure you of that."
If Anderson is right, then Trump would find a win.
On Sunday evening, strategists for Cruz and Kasich announced an alliance to halt Trump's winning streak in Oregon, New Mexico, and Indiana.
Trump dismissed the alliance as "a horrible act of desperation from two campaigns who have horribly failed."
