Apple Watch 2 Release Date and Rumors: May Not Require iPhone Tethering to Run

Now that WWDC is only two more months to go, more and more rumors about the Apple Watch 2 have begun to surface. The latest rumor suggest that the latest Apple Watch would be able to run without being tethered to an iPhone.

Sources claim that Apple is working on an integrated cellular data technology that comes equipped with faster next-gen chip for the upcoming Apple Watch. If these rumors are indeed true, this would allow Apple Watch to function without the need of an iPhone. Fr now, the current Apple Watch needs to be paired to an iPhone for installation of apps or do any other kind of activity that needs internet. One could not even answer calls or send text messages without being tethered to an iPhone.

While these reports are only rumors for now, a recent notice on the Apple developer website calls for all the apps that can run on Apple Watch, completely independent of iPhone. This notice, in itself, lends some credibility to the report.

An Apple Watch that does not require an iPhone to be tethered to it will be a pleasant change for people who use fitness solutions offered by the watch. It makes more sense to simply have a Watch that can double up as an iPhone when not around rather than lugging the two items together.

Even though Apple Watch 2 will not release until September along with iPhone 7, it is safe to assume that it will definitely be talked about at the WWDC event on June 13.

Apple has already announced that its annual developer conference will be held between 13 and 17 June for a week in San Francisco. In this event, enthusiasts can also expect iOS and OS X software release, as well as new tools for the developers.
