Pokéman GO News, Rumors, Release Date And Updates: Beta Testing Begins In Australia [VIDEO]
The lucky few who have been selected to test Pokéman GO in Australia and New Zealand will soon receive their invites to play the game, announced Niantic.
The game's maker had earlier announced field-tests Down Under and asked aspiring testers to sign up. On Monday, Niantic said it will start rolling out invites.
"Niantic will select users based on a variety of factors which may include OS types, experience in real world games and an element of luck," Niantic said on its blog. "If you're selected to participate, you'll receive an email from us with detailed instructions."
Niantic also informed that it would be sending out more invites to expand the number of people testing. Interestingly, many invited by Niantic are level 1 Ingress gamers, which surprised higher levels who did not make it.
"It's very beta but it's pretty fun so far! I wish there was a tutorial or something, I had to figure out how to catch pokemon on my own and I still don't really understand gyms but I control one?" said one Reddit user.
"As far as I can tell, pokemon are found randomly but only within those shiny patches of land that you see everywhere - not guaranteed. I tried waiting around in one for five minutes and nothing happened, but as soon as I stepped into another one I found two! I don't think there's a way to track them," the user added. Many testers also uploaded videos of the gameplay, much to the envy of those who did not get selected.
Pokéman GO was announced last September at an event attended by executives of Niantic and Nintendo. The announcement of the game and its subsequent first trailer had Pokéman fans across the world excited given the prospect of battling and capturing Pokéman in the real world. Niantic also announced it would launch the Pokéman GO Plus, a wearable device that would notify the wearer when a Pokéman is around.
Niantic has launch beta testing in Japan which in the recent past has been the source of information on the game. Testers provided fans the first glimpse of gyms and training. The first impression of the testers has sent enthusiasm soaring among gamers.
