After AMD's Q1 2016 earnings, a potential release date for Nintendo's next console has been revealed. Speculations say that the next-gen console will bolster the Q2 revenue, tentatively in the months of July, August and September, by 15%.

Reports suggest that it is because of the system-on-chip which will act as the main catalyst for the boost. The expected revenue can be as much as $1.5 billion in the next three to four years.

"These SOC "Wins" have been largely used in leading consoles in recent years, leading many to believe that one could well include the Nintendo NX."

As per recent reports, AMD is most probably building SOC for Nintendo NX consoles, if rumors are to be believed. For the uninitiated, SOC has been linked to PS4 4K console from Sony, a new console all set to launch with upgraded GPU, RAM and CPU.

"If you think about the semi-custom business in the past few years, the third quarter is always the peak," CEO AMD, Lisa Su told reporters. "It will be the peak this year, as well, but we're starting some of the ramping in the second quarter as we build to the stronger third quarter."

This would suggest that even though two of those products are set to launch in the third quarter or even in 2017, one of them will be made available in Q2.

When asked who the buyers of these new products are, Su said: "I don't believe we've gone through any detail about what those wins are. I'd prefer to let that come out as our customers are ready to launch."

According to recent rumors posted on NeoGaf, "The NX is going to have a screen controller (whether it's optional or standard I don't know) and can be used anywhere to play your home console games.

"The controller itself will not have any processing capabilities, it'll essentially be a dummy vita. It'll likely have basic OS functions to access the NX console from anywhere, like a tiny cpu.

"Nintendo will use enhanced Wii U gamepad streaming tech, and allow the controller to be taken anywhere, connect to the NX console at home (likely through Wifi or personal hotspots and the NX console will likely have to be in standby mode). Basically, it's remote play built into the box."
