Arsenal Manager Not Sure if England Striker is going to be Retained by Arsenal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has put English international Theo Walcott's future at the North London club in further doubt after suggesting in an interview that he as not sure whether the footballer would be a part of the squad in the 2016-17 season. The England international. who has only shown flashes of brilliance throughout his decade long stay at the club he joined as a 16 year old has not been able to realise his potential and gone to the next level as was thought, which is why it seems that Arsenal might as well cash in on the player while he is still young and there are buyers who would be interested in him.
During a press conference, Arsena Wenger was asked point black about the future of Theo Walcott in his squad and he said, "I don't know yet." Later on he he went on to say,"I'm not in transfer mode at the moment, but I think he has gone through a bad spell. He has responded very well, because he said: 'Okay, I will work harder and more.' Even when he comes on now, you see he is motivated and focused. Let's see how well he finishes the season now."
Considering the fact that he is an England international and would like to stake his claim to the national squad for the European Championships later on this summer, it is certainly not a great time for Walcott to miss out on game time. He has not had a start at Arsenal for more than a few weeks now and in addition to that, the emergence of youngster Alex Iwobi and the return of Alexis Sanchez has meant that Walcott's misfiring performances have not been missed by the team at all. Walcott reportedly earns a whopping £140,000 per week at Arsenal and still has a few years left on his current contract, which is why the club needs to find a club who would be interested in signing him but also be prepared to pay those massive wages for a player who has not delivered for some time.
