Thibaut Courtois Might be Heading to Real Madrid

Chelsea is a team that has been in turmoil ever since the 2015-16 season started and although they were the defending champions, the team played some terrible football to find themselves out of reckoning by November and a massive clear out in in the works at the club before the 2016-17 season starts under new manager Antonio Conte. One of the players, who could be heading out of the door at Stamford Bridge is the club's first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and according to latest reports, the Belgian will hand in a transfer request to the club hierarchy if Spanish giants Real Madrid decide to make a move for him this summer. He had already spent a part of his time in Spain, when he was on loan at Real Madrid's cross town rivals Atletico Madrid and it seems that the Chelsea Number 1 is angling to for a move back to sunny Spain with one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The report states that the goalkeeper will put in a transfer request if Real Madrid come calling and considering the fact that the Spanish giants have been in the market for a goalkeeper for a considerable period of time, means that a bid for Courtois could be in the world. As eveyrone knows, Manchester United's Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea remains the club's first option and in fact, they had almost signed him up on transfer deadline day last summer, before a delay in completing the paperwork poured water over the whole thing. It is expected that Real Madrid might go back in for David De Gea in the summer and if they are able to get their man then there is no reason why they would place a bid for Courtois.

However, if they fail to bring David De Gea to Madrid in the summer for the second year running and it could well be the case, considering the very public jousting that the two clubs engaged in after the fiasco, then it is quite likely that Real Madrid would then go for Thibaut Courtois who is regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world.
