LA Lakers Kobe Bryant calls team ‘Soft like Charmin’
The Los Angeles Lakers have faced a lot of criticisms this season. Earlier this week, hall of famer and former Laker, Magic Johnson stated that the Lakers should try and tank their season in order to get a better draft pick. Now, the latest critic is none other than the team's star, Kobe Bryant.
In the practice rant that went viral on Thursday, Kobe delivered a harsh message laced with expletives to fellow teammates. As he is walking away with Laker Nick Young, Kobe stated: "[Expletives] I see why [expletives] lost 21 games...We're soft like Charmin!"
The star athlete frustratingly added that the team does not practice hard enough. At the end of the scrimmage between the starters and the reserves, Kobe stated to general manager, Mitch Kupchak, "I'm supposed to practice and get better, Mitch. I'm supposed to practice and get better. These m-----f------ ain't doing s--- for me." The practice session was Kobe's first one with the team in over two weeks.
When asked about his rant, Kobe stated to according to Arash Markazi with ESPNLosAngeles.com:
"No, I was just being myself. I don't know if it helps them, but it obviously raises the intensity level. It was a tough practice for them...It's really good for Nick, aside from the fun of bantering back and forth and the trash talk, just fundamentally some of the techniques and things that I use. He gets a chance to really see up close those little tricks.... I just challenge guys and see what happens. I've always believed in throwing them in the pool and seeing if they can sink or swim."
The Lakers will be taking on the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.
