The 2014 blockbuster "Gone Girl" had the audience hooked to its thrilling storyline and mind-boggling mystery. And now another mystery movie, "The Girl on the Train," which is based on the bestseller by Paula Hawkins, is going to take the fans by storm. The trailer was recently released.

According to reports, both bear close resemblance in terms of their title and if the trailer is anything to go by, one can also say that both share massive mystery quotient. A missing woman and a blurry narration are common threads that bind them together. So, if you are a Gone Girl fan, this trailer is bound to bring back memories of the fascinating 2014 flick that was based on the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn.

Viewers are already drawing comparison between the two and some also feel that it has shades of "Fifty Shades of Grey" as the two-minute trailer offers plenty of sex. The characters have been shown to have a queer raw attraction that the erotic novel portrayed.

Directed by Tate Taylor, the screenplay of the movie has been written by Erin Cressida. It stars Emily Blunt as Rachel Watson, the heartbroken alcoholic wife going through a melancholic phase after divorcing her husband Tom (played by Justin Theroux) who has a new wife Anna (played by Rebecca Ferguson) and a baby with her.

Tom's nanny Megan Hipwell (Haley Bennett) has gone missing, leaving a distraught husband Scott (played by Luke Evans). Rachel finds herself drawn towards this mystery as her husband had an affair with the nanny. She tries to help the police find the missing girl on the train as she has seen her but the suspicious glances point at her, as she had a sound reason to hurt the nanny.

Well, the storyline is certainly promising and with some major twist assured in the movie, it is being touted as the thriller of the year. Whether it would match Gone Girl's success, only time will tell. The film releases on October 7, 2016.
