Battlefield 5' release date, news, rumors: Rumor Says Game Set in WW1; Slated for October Release?

According to news reports, the fifth installment of this first person shooter game will bring the gamers back to first world war era. With the new setting, the players will get an opportunity to explore a new backdrop, complete with WW1 weapons, aircraft and armor.

Another report published recently supports this speculation. The publication shows that the WW1 setting was extracted from Word of Games, a German retailer.

Liam Robertson, gaming industry insider and researcher, posted an update earlier this year that the "Battlefield 5" has tagged subtext, "Mehrspieler taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg" meaning "Multiplayers tactical shooter in WW1."

According to Michael Pachter, videogame analyst, told Gaming Bolt what he thinks "Battlefield 5" has in store for the gamers and why is it better than its other competitors.

"Of course it will be [a threat]," Pachter admitted."I just think that there's less overall competition. "Battlefield 5" itself will be great- it's just that last year there were five games that took 60 million units of sales- "Halo," "Fallout," "Battlefront," "Assassin's Creed," and

"Call of Duty." This year, on the other hand, there are only four games, and one of them, "Mafia 3," isn't as big as the smallest of those others. So if "Mafia" offsets "Assassin's Creed," and "Battlefield" does "Battlefront"... then "Watch Dogs" is competing for "Fallout's" share, and what happens to "Halo's" share? It needs to go somewhere, so it should be good for everybody."

When it released in 2013, the game did not receive critical acclaim and was even termed as shallow for single player mode. Despite that, the game became a commercial success and sold 700 million copies worldwide.

"Battlefield 5" is expected to be released on Oct. 26 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
