Brazilian Man, 26-Years-Old, Confesses to 41 Murders
A Brazilian man arrested for murder confessed to 41 other killings, and he is only 26-years-old.
The Daily Mail reports that man is known as Sailson Jose das Grasas and he hailed from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's second largest city, renowned more for its white sand beaches and sultry night life than mass murderers.
Grasas' victims were said to have been 37 women, two men, and a child.
Disturbingly, Grasas told the police that he hunted and stalked his victims for a period of time. That time could last months or just a week. He would learn his victim's habits and the layouts of their homes to make his attacks easier. He said he often struck in the early morning hours.
The Daily Mail reports that he also said he greatly enjoyed killing, and he was "addicted" to it. He said that he would feel extremely nervous and anxious if he went long periods of time without claiming a victim. Grasas said that he would never rape, and he also chose white victims, because he himself is black.
Grasas grew up without his father, who died after being electrocuted in an accident while Grasas was 11. Grasas said that although he experienced this trauma, it was not the motivation for his crimes.
Although Grasa did not rape his victims, the police claim that he would masturbate at the scene of the murders.
Grasa began his murder spree at the age of 17 after spending his early teenage years involved in petty crime such as purse snatching.
The work of verifying the claims Grasa made about the numbers of murder he committed has been started by the Brazilian police. They are asking people with missing friends or family to come forward and provide whatever information they can.
